    The Ultimate Guide to Event Wi-Fi
    Matt Harvey and Ken Kirsh, PSAV
    PSAV Info

    Given the pace of technological change and consumer usage patterns, today’s planners and suppliers must possess sufficient knowledge about connectivity (High Speed internet Access/HSIA) to ask the right questions and achieve the desired outcomes. Planners understand the importance of event history and projected needs like food and beverage consumption and attendance numbers, but many don’t know how much High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) bandwidth they use, how it is being used, whether they are receiving what they contracted for, and/or what level of service is required.

    We are light years ahead of where we were just 10 years ago with technological advances. Device adoption rates have skyrocketed as had increased consumer demand for better connectivity and faster access. Internet access has gone from “nice to have” to “must have” both for event attendees and meeting professionals.

    In this session, you will learn to

    • Develop strategies regarding connectivity purchases to meet content delivery and attendee expectations
    • Improve the negotiation process for connectivity purchase
    • Heighten attendee satisfaction and meet the growing demands for provision of adequate bandwidth

    Matt Harvey oversees PSAV’s Client Network Services business. The department provides temporary event Internet solutions in addition to a permanent Wi-Fi design, install and operate service for hotels and convention centers. Matt has 13 years experience in the event technology industry holding a variety of roles in Operations, Sales and IT. He is also an active participant in Hotel Technology Next

    Ken Kirsh is an award-winning live event producer and has produced business meetings, concerts, and special events for Fortune 100 companies for 20 years. He has conducted seminars at WEC, numerous MPI chapters, and is now the Philadelphia Branch Director of PSAV, serving top hotels, venues, and planners throughout the PAMPI region.

    Cutting-Edge Legal Issues in Today's Meetings ... and How to Solve Them!
    Josh Grimes, Esq., Grimes Law Offices, LLC.
    Josh Grimes Info

    Room Block Poaching;… "Suitcasing"… Guns in Meetings - Just some of the latest challenges facing the meetings industry. With hotel occupancy up and demand for quality meeting facilities at a premium, market forces now favor hotels and other suppliers -- a dramatic change from just a few years ago. Yet meeting planners face the same cost sensitivity and accountability demands that became primary considerations in recent years.

    Join hospitality attorney Josh Grimes in an interactive and thought-provoking review of the year's hottest issues. Learn how to address these issues and more:

    • Threats caused by "room poaching" -- unauthorized housing agencies contacting your guests;
    • New guns laws allowing weapons in your meetings;
    • Walking of blocks of group guests by a hotel in favor of a more lucrative event;
    • The 3 "right" ways to calculate attrition damages;
    • Protecting guests' privacy on hotel computer networks and in cyberspace;
    • Hotel reward points, FAM trips, and other meeting incentives vs. legal and ethical obligations.
    • Controlling social media comments on your event, your attendees and guests to prevent disparagement, false rumors, and leaks of confidential information.

    An important part of this presentation will be an attendee-generated discussion of these and other challenges facing the meetings industry. Come ready to think about your most important legal issues today, and to brainstorm with colleagues about the best solutions.
